Fortuitously-Featured, Four-Legged Loo!
Hi, everyone! Welcome to this week's loo review! It's a short one as we're doing some traveling this week; however, short does not mean insignificant, so, by all means, read on!
We thought we'd take things in a different direction this week, paying tribute to our four-legged friends!
Whether you're a cat- or a dog-person, I'm sure you'll agree that pets hold a special place in our lives: they certainly do here at the WDW Loo Review home office. Chewbacca ("Chewie"), here, is our mascot. Her ceasless efforts to find the best place to poop in our backyard served as inspiration for us to locate the best places to do the same in Disney Parks and Resorts (okay, not really, but that's what we tell her anyway -- ed)!
Disney is oft known for it's sense of equality; begging the question, does the Walt Disney Company extend the paw of equality to pets as well?
Given this question, we are off to try and find a suitable answer. Our journey takes us back to Magic Kingdom where, in the alleys of Liberty Square, we stumble across this find:
Tucked behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, in an alcove sheltered overhead by eaves, covered in soft mulch extended from adjacent landscaping, we see a sign.
Well, wouldja look at that?! It seems we've found our prize! Here is a loo for the many service dogs we see throughout the parks! Imagineers are often credited with thinking of absolutely everything; and, if this doesn't serve as proof, I don't know what does.
Mulch covers an area cleared of landscaped plants, indicating to our canine friends where to best do their business. We think this is a great idea: it's out of the way, unobtrusive and gives dogs a more quiet place to poo than many of the crowded restrooms their human counterparts must use! Though it won't accommodate 101 dalmatians, there's just enough room here in this intimate spot for Pongo and Perdita to relieve themselves. Sadly, there are no baby changing stations, Dyson Airblades or dog themed decor; but, hey, dogs won't let the absence of such fluff stand in the way of seeking relief (as evidenced by some traffic here we witnessed shortly after taking our photos -- ed)!
There's even a curtained window above, affording curious Christmas shoppers the chance to observe the action:
Overall, we give this little loo two paws up. Thanks, Disney, for giving our best friends a way to experience the magic of the parks without embarrassing, ill-placed accidents!
